Senior Support Workers provide highly responsive, short term support intended to assist clients following hospital discharge, illness, surgery, or to establish a long term support network. Types of support include:
*Crisis intervention with housekeeping, meal prep,
laundry, safety checks, etc.
*Providing immediate personal care support (i.e. shower assistance, med reminders)
*Resourcing for seniors with questions or health concerns
*Referring to formal supports (i.e. OHAH home care, family doctor)
*Linking to community supports (i.e. MOW, transportation)
*Assistance with the completion of forms
*Providing opportunities for socialization and recreation
*Visiting at-risk seniors, providing exposure to supports available
*Accompaniment to appointments
*Assisting with picking up groceries, or supplies when ill
*Providing urgent respite to caregivers
Senior Support Workers cannot assist with the following:
*Routine personal care/ Nursing Services
*Heavy cleaning
*Personal financial matters
