Description:
The Young/Early Onset Program (YODA) runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sunnyside (247 Franklin St. N., Kitchener) from 11:00am-4:00pm.
This program is intended for persons who have been diagnosed with a dementia before the age of 65 and who meet program eligibility (i.e.: do not require a secure environment, manage their own personal care and medications, are in the early stages of memory loss, and are willing and able to participate in the program).

Eligibility Criteria
Criteria:
- Person has been diagnosed before the age of 65 with a dementia.
- Person is in the early stages of memory loss
- Person is able to participate safely in group programming, and must not be exit-seeking.
- Person is independent with Activities of Daily Living, and able to self manage medications with reminders.
- Person is medically and behaviourally stable.
- Able to follow all covid-19 protocols in place
- If the person smokes, they must agree to refrain from smoking for the duration of the program.
- Able to provide a local emergency contact who is able to pick-up the participant within 45-minutes of a call (i.e. becomes ill or cannot be safely supported in the day program).
- Not living in a congregate care setting (e.g. retirement home, group home).
